ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — Harbor Court Assisted Living and Memory Care in Rocky River opened its building for tours on Jan. 7. It was its first open house since an entirely new management team took over.
Cydney Bare, executive director, said: “We started placing our new team last August and we finished at the beginning of November. The team is very cohesive and very experienced in the industry.”
Additionally, Bare said, a new medical director, as well as a nurse practitioner, will be added in February.
“It’s not required by assisted living facilities,” she said, “but we feel it’s good for our residents so they don’t have to leave for primary care doctors’ appointments.”
Harbor Court was built about 30 years ago, according to Caroline James, sales director. “The building was purchased in 2012,” she said. “It used to be independent living (only) and is now assisted living, with the sixth floor turned into a memory care floor.”
There are 124 apartments in the building, including one-bedroom with one bath, two bedrooms with one bath and two bedrooms with two baths.
Arrangements can also be made for respite care for times such as post-surgery, when a caregiver needs a break from their duties, or even if someone wants to experience an overnight stay to familiarize themselves with the building and its services. Cost is $200 per day for respite care.
Bare said: “We had a great turnout at the open house. There are a lot of exciting things happening at Harbor Court, and we are looking for more opportunities to bring in the community to see the changes we are making.”
She noted that the roof has been replaced, a new freezer for the kitchen has been added and they are in the process of doing room remodeling.
“Stop in any time for a tour,” she said.
Harbor Court, located at 22900 Center Ridge Road, has been owned for the past seven years by Capital Senior Living of Texas. The company’s portfolio includes more than 127 communities in 23 states.
